Home Remedies for Pink Eye or Conjunctivitis

Sometimes the white portion of the eye becomes pink and reddish in color. This condition is known as pink eye or conjunctivitis.

What Causes Conjunctivitis:

This condition is generally an infection caused by common viruses. It can also be an allergic reaction or some chemical and pollutants in the air. Excessive strain on the eye can also lead to a dry and pink eye.

Signs and Symptoms:

There is a feeling of pain itching and the watering of eyes.

Prevention:

Always wear dark eye protection preferably dark glasses to stops spreading the conjunctivitis virus. Allergic conjunctivitis at the same time every year may be another condition called vernal conjunctivitis. This condition is more stubborn to alleviate and will require treatment from an ophthalmologist.

List of Home Remedies:
Honey:

Take about two cups of hot water. Add three tablespoons of honey to it. Mix and stir to dissolve and make sure you allow this liquid to cool down after which you can wash your both eyes with this liquid two times a day.

Coriander Leaves:

Take a few coriander leaves. Add it to one glass of water; make a decoction of this by letting it boil for about 15 to 20 minutes. Once cool strain the water. This decoction is the best eyewash for the Conjunctivitis.

Potato:

Place a potato slice on the pink eye to reduce pain.

Cold Compress:

Take clean cotton cloth for cold compress and do remember to wash the cloth for each eye.

Cilantro Leaves:

Take a few cilantro leaves to add a half a cup of water and blend it. Strain the mixture and apply the pulp on the closed eyelids. Or you can also drink that filtrate.

Goat Milk:

Take a cup of goat’s milk and dip a clean cotton cloth into it. Apply on your eyes. This remedy will heal your pink eye very quickly.

Turmeric Powder:

Take some turmeric powder and add a little water and mix them well. Take a clean cotton cloth dip into it and wait till dry. Then mop the affected area with this cotton cloth.

Lemon Juice:

Put a few drops of lemon juice in the affected eyes or you can even drink one glass of lemon juice daily morning before breakfast.

Cucumber:

Take one slice of a cucumber and place it on your eyelids and leave it on for a couple of minutes.

Raw Potato:

Take one slice of raw potato and place it on your eyelids and leave it on for a couple of minutes.

Lemon Juice:

Put 1 to 2 drops of honey in the affected eye directly.

Coconut Oil:

Put 1 to 2 drops of coconut oil in your eyes; lie down for a couple of minutes.

Indian Goose Berry and Honey:

Make a juice by extracting some Indian gooseberries. Add a little honey to it and drink this for about two times daily.
