So from 25th March 2020, India is in a 21 day nationwide lockdown. You have to self-isolate from everyone to prevent a severe outbreak of the Covid-19 for 3 weeks. Wondering what you can do at home apart from making a TikTok and binge-watching Netflix in this lockdown? We have some best solutions!

Be mentally prepared:

Firstly, you have to be mentally prepared for the lockdown. As many of us aren’t habituated to self-isolation, it’s important to be mentally prepared for the 21 days ahead. You will have to adjust your whole routine and even sleeping patterns according to the necessity.

Read books:

If you were a book-holic during your teens like me but then adulting happened. Now is the right time to pick up some books from your shelf and read them again. No worries if you don’t have a good book, there is this app called ‘Any books’ and ‘BookHub’ which allow you to download a book of any genre and read it for free. In case, you are unable to download them, you can google the pdfs of your favorite books and read them for free. You can listen to audiobooks too.

Photography:

Now I understand not all of you will be interested in novels therefore, try your hand at learning your photographic skills. Watch YouTube videos on photography hacks and go to your terrace and balcony to try them. Read articles on photography and improve photographic skills easily at home. You can learn some basic video editing through YouTube videos. These skills can prove to be very useful in the near future.

Plant a tree:

You can plant a tree in your courtyard or garden or even in your neighborhood. Amidst the severe climate change, you can contribute a little more towards saving the world. You can plant the seeds of whichever fruit you or even vegetable you had and water it daily.

Online courses:

As we have the privilege of the internet, there are several websites that offer a wide range of online courses. Websites such as ‘Alison’ and ‘Coursera’ offer free online courses of your choice. These online courses can be very helpful in terms of your future.

Spend time with family:

It was actually weird to me when I noticed the memes on social media which made me realize not everyone spends time with their family. I know families can be difficult especially a brown family that poses questions of your results on a daily basis. But then it is important to spend time with your family and appreciate their efforts. I spend at least 3 hours gossiping with my mum. If I can do it, you can do it too.

Write a journal:

Maintain a ‘Quarantine’ journal, in which you write your daily experiences and emotions throughout the lockdown. You will not only feel better but also you can save it to show your children how you survived a pandemic in 2020.

Indoor games:

I’m sure the ludo, snakes and ladders, carom and chess have been missing you after you locked them up to rust in your cupboard as a teen. Take them out and relive your golden days once again with your cousins or siblings. If you have a garden or a courtyard you can play a family football or a cricket game just like Salman khan plays as prem in ‘Hum Aapke hai Kaun’.

Clean your room:

Tired of your mother ranting about how messy your room is? This is the right time to clean your room and cupboards’ to make her smile. Hindi main bole to ‘’Ek Teer Se Do Nishaan’. Perfect time to get organized!

Other things which you can do at home are; Watching some amazing documentaries or Tedtalks, Picking up a good hobby like Drawing, Calligraphy, Dancing, Painting, Cooking or even writing short stories.

Lockdown is also the perfect time to fix your sleeping pattern and develop a new yet healthy habit in 21 days!

Quarantine is the perfect time to pamper yourself, do things you love, make your loved ones smile, call old friends or visit your neighbors and develop a new life skill.
