If you’ve ever experienced having a stye, you know the pain and discomfort associated with the condition. And let’s not forget the fear of going out due to the hideous bump that is so easily noticed. There aren’t many people that are daring enough to go out in public with such mark of shame so easily visible, especially one that’s on your eye.

These eye styes can occur in all ages and typically appears to look like a pimple or bump. While the stye usually remains on the inside it can sometimes be seen outside of the eye but does not cause any harm to your vision. So what causes an eye stye? Typically they are caused by a build of bacteria called staphylococcal that is normally seen in the nose but often moved up to the eye sockets.

Symptoms of an Eye Stye: The symptoms of the eye styes are pretty typical and include swelling, redness, pain and tenderness in the eye. The stye may also cause your eye to water often, depending on how large it is, but once the stye is dealt with the tension is relieved. If you have a pus bubble on your stye go ahead and pop it because once that pus is out, relief will come. Since the eye is such a sensitive area to use of eye stye home remedies is very popular.

Here are some of the most commonly used home remedies for the eye stye:

Triphala Powder: Triphala water is a great remedy for relieving and removing the stye in the eye. Mix just 1 tsp of Triphala powder with a glass of water and then let it set overnight (or 8 hours). Then wash both of your eyes out thoroughly. Repeat the same process once or twice a day.

Coriander Seeds: Boil 1 tsp of Coriander seeds in a cup of water it too makes a great solution to wash your eyes out with to treat the stye.

Granules of Alum: Take two to three granules of Alum and mix it into a cup of water. This is the best home remedy to relieve the tension and pain of an eye stye.

Tea Bags: One of the most popular eye stye home remedies is the use of tea. Whether you use it hot or cold, tea bags placed on the eye is a great way to get relief. Hold the bags on for about 10 minutes once or twice a day and you will be surprised at the relief that you feel.

Turmeric: Turmeric is an amazing herb that has remedy relief for numerous infections and disease and it can be used for an eye stye too. Just remember when you boil the tsp of Turmeric with 2 cups of water, you have to take a wash cloth and soak up the solution in order to get the Turmeric seed chunks out. From there you can take an eye dropper and dispense a few drops into each eye.

These are just a few of the most common eye stye home remedies but they are recommended to work in a short amount of time and without the use of prescription medications.
