PUBG Ban

Yesterday might have been a melancholic historic day for Indian teens; as one of the incredible yet insanely famous Chinese battleground games- PUBG has been successfully banned by the Indian Government.

I won’t be exaggerating if I said the majority of youth have been mourning the ban just like one mourns the loss of their loved ones.

However, the ban has invited applause from the parents while the teens and children are yet to acknowledge the decision.

PUBG has almost 50 million users from India alone.

The lockdown and the prolonged quarantine have to lead to a rapid increase in the number of users; making more teens indulging themselves in the game on a daily basis.

Moreover, the decision did not come as a surprise as the Indian government has already hinted the ban almost a month ago. PUBG is more likely to meet an end similar to that of TikTok.

Why did the Indian Government ban PUBG?

The decision came as a result of the rising tension between India and China at the border.

India and China are currently in the middle of border disputing as China is trying to encroach on the Indian Territory in Ladakh for a few months.

India has decided to hit back by banning a good number of Chinese apps leading to a considerable amount of loss for China.

Earlier, the Indian government has banned a good number of apps, including the popular Chinese app TikTok. Now, there are an additional 118 apps banned, that include PUBG.

The Indian government said in a press release,

“Using the sovereign powers, the Government of India has decided to block the usage of certain Apps, used in both mobile and non-mobile Internet-enabled devices.

These apps are listed in the attached appendix. This move will safeguard the interests of crores of Indian mobile and internet users.

This decision is a targeted move to ensure safety, security, and sovereignty of Indian cyberspace.”

What next? How will PUBG meet its fate?

PUBG is more likely to meet a similar fate as that of Tiktok. The Indian Government will send the notice to Apple and Google to remove the app from the play store.

Soon, Apple and Google will remove PUBG exclusively for Indian users.

The people who already have the app may not be able to have access to the app or may experience many issues towards accessing the app.

However, the app will not work because famous telecom companies like Jio and Airtel will block PUBG connection to servers after they receive notice from the Indian government.

In conclusion, PUBG was made for computers or laptops by a South Korean company. Therefore, the game will remain available in India. The good news is you can access and play the game only on desktop computers or laptops.

THE PUBG MOBILE AND PUBG MOBILE LITE ARE THE GAMES MADE BY TENCENT, A Chinese company, under license from the Korean company.
These two apps that are available on mobile phones are banned by the Indian Government.

So you can still play PUBG in India on a computer desktop or a laptop but not on your mobile phone.
