Ingredients:

For the donut:

  • 2 tbsp yeast
  • ¾ cup warm water
  • ½ tbsp salt
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 egg yolk
  • one tbsp vanilla extract
  • 2-3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3-4 vegetable shortening to fry

For the glaze:

  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • ¼ cup water
  • ½ tbsp vanilla extract
Procedure:

Step 1:

Mix the yeast and water as mentioned in a bowl and let it stand for 10 minutes. Add sugar, salt, butter, egg, egg yolk, vanilla extract along with the flour. Mix these ingredients thoroughly to form a soft dough that is clear at the sides.

Step 2:

Oil a bowl and transfer the dough in the bowl. Wrap the bowl with plastic wrap and let it sit for 2 hours. After that deflate the dough and refrigerate for at least 8 hours.

Step 3:

Take the dough and roll it on flour surface with ½ inch thickness and using a doughnut cutter, cut into doughnuts. Place these doughnuts on a baking sheet and let it sit for an hour.

Step 4:

Line the baking sheet with double-layered paper towel and place the cooling rack above. Now, fry the donuts after heating the vegetable shortening until they turn brown for a minute. Place them on the cooling rack. Fry all the donuts in a similar way and let them cool.

Making the glaze:

Mix all the above-mentioned ingredients in a bowl until they become smooth. Dip one donut in the glaze on the sides and place them on the cooling rack again. Allow the glaze to sit for 15 minutes and lo! Your donuts are ready to be served.
