    Jaundice Causes, Symptoms and Home Remedies

    The term jaundice has been derived from a French word ‘Jaune’ which means yellow. Jaundice is a medical condition which starts with yellowing of  the skin and sometimes it also whites of the patient’s eyes. Jaundice often causes tissues to become over saturates by bilirubin. Jaundice usually prevents our liver from disposing bilirubin.

    Standard level of bilirubin in blood plasma should be bellow than 1.2 mg/dl. when it crosses the level of 2.5 mg/dl, it’s time to say that your effected by Jaundice but a point to be noted is, yellow pigment is a one of a main symptom of jaundice. But if someone is having yellow discoloration of the skin specially on the palms and the soles only it’s due to Carotenemia, a far more harmless and different condition than Jaundice.

    Common Causes: Lack of water intake sometimes causes this condition. It is highly recommended to drink at least 4-6 liters of fresh/ purified water. Hepatic failure can cause skin jaundice. When liver fails to perform it’s normal metabolic functions, this health condition is known as hepatic failure.

    Signs and Symptoms:

    • Skin and Sclera Discoloration
    • Yellow Urine
    • Discoloration of Stool
    • Pain in Stomach
    • Vomiting or Vomiting Tendency
    • Pruritus
    • Sleeping Disorder
    • Weight Loss
    • Feeling Full
    • Liver Swelling
    • Ankle and Leg Swelling
    • Chills
    • Flu
    • Weakness

    List of Home Remedies:

    Radish Leaf Juice: Take some fresh radish leaves and extract some juice from it and consume this raw juice twice daily.

    Lemon Juice: Lemon has a extraordinary power to control liver damage hence drink 20 ml of lemon juice if you are getting any symptoms of Jaundice.

    Turmeric Powder and Hot Water: Add 1/4 teaspoon of Turmeric powder in Hot water and consume it two three times daily to treat Jaundice.

    Papaya Leaves Paste: Make a paste of Papaya Leaves and have it with 1/2 teaspoon of honey.

    Barley: Add a 2 table spoon of barley in 2 glass of water and boil it and then drink it as many times as possible.

    Sugarcane Juice: Extract fresh Juice from Sugarcane and have it twice daily. it is a very helpful remedy to reduce the symptoms of jaundice.

    Pigeon Pea Leaf: Take some fresh Pigeon Pea Leaves from the garden and make a paste of it with 1 glass of water and consume it in the morning before your breakfast regularly.

    It is better to consult a Doctor before taking any over the counter medication since it can worsen the problem as every human being doesn’t have same type of health condition hence it is better if you can go to a doctor ,let them diagnose your issues after you tell them all the symptoms that you are noticing and them follow their prescribed medication, and you will get a far more better result.
