1) Heavy flow:

A study and many surveys have shown that a good amount of women complain about heavy flow to their gynecologists. However, you must know that heavy flow is common during the first five days of your periods.

It is also common to experience heavy flow during the night. But if you observe heavy blood flow for more than a week, then it might be a little concerning.

Heavy blood flow that lasts for more than 7-8 days, can be an indication of pelvic inflammatory disease or other blood disorders.

2) Early period:

Getting your period early is considered to be normal for the first few years as your period is still adjusting. If you get your period between 26-38 days from your last one, then it’s normal.

But if you are constantly getting your periods early that is before 24 days from your last one, then you must consult your doctor.

3) Missed periods:

Missed periods can say a lot about your hormonal levels and your mental well-being. You can miss your periods when there is hormonal imbalance, a lot of stress, anxiety, weight gain/ weight loss, and change in your lifestyle.

If you continuously miss your periods for more than three months, then consider consulting your gynecologist.

4) Blood color:

Blood color says a lot about your health. The color of your period, in the beginning, will be bright red and is considered to be normal. Furthermore, it can be a little darker and have clots. The darker color of your blood with clots can be a sign of a healthy period.

Whereas, the brown color blood is said to be the older form of period blood. The black color of your blood can be an indication of a disorder or a serious disease. Consult your doctor, if you experience black color blood.

5) Severe cramps:

Experiencing pain in your stomach, thighs, and back is normal during your periods. If you experience severe pain that lasts longer than 5 days and begins a few days earlier than your periods does, then it can be an indication of fibroids and pelvic inflammatory disease.

6) Migraines:

Migraines and headaches are common during your periods. It begins before your period does and can last longer. These headaches are called the ‘menstrual migraines’ and are due to a sudden drop in estrogen levels. You can get rid of it by a painkiller and is said to be nothing serious!
