While you are breastfeeding, it is very important to take care of yourself as well as your baby so that it will not affect you and your baby. You should take care of the diet you are following. It should be full of nutrients and should also avoid some foods while breastfeeding.

But there are many types of foods that do not suit babies and they should be avoided while you are breastfeeding. So, you should be careful about what you are eating and what not while breastfeeding.

So, here are the foods that you should avoid while you are breastfeeding:

1. COFFEE: While you are breastfeeding, you should avoid drinking coffee in your diet as it is not good for you. As you know that coffee contains caffeine in a very high amount and it is not good for your baby. It can cause irritation and sleepiness and can lower down the level of iron in your breast milk. So, you should avoid consuming coffee until you are breastfeeding.

2. CHOCOLATE: You should avoid eating chocolate while you are breastfeeding. Chocolate is very rich in theobromine and it is the same as caffeine. It is also not healthy for you. If you will consume chocolate while you are breastfeeding then it may cause the behavior of your baby. It may affect the sleep of your baby and make them fussy.

3. CITRUS FRUITS: While breastfeeding, you should avoid eating citrus fruits i.e. the fruits which contain vitamin- C. You should avoid eating oranges, lemon, grapefruit etc. These fruits are very acidic in nature and they are not good for you as well as your baby while breastfeeding. You should remove these kinds of citrus fruits from your diet as your baby can spit up if you will breastfeed after eating such fruits.

4. BROCCOLI: Also, broccoli is healthy for your body but while breastfeeding you should completely avoid eating broccoli. It can cause gas to your baby which is very bad to happen. And there are other types of food also which can cause gas to your baby like: onion, cauliflower, cabbage, and cucumber. So, avoid eating them also.

5. ALCOHOL: Alcohol is a kind of poison for you and for your baby if you drink it while breastfeeding. You should not drink alcohol, especially for nine months. It can be very dangerous for your baby when you drink alcohol while breastfeeding.

6. PEANUTS: There are many allergic substances present in peanuts so you should be aware of that. If you will eat peanuts while you are breastfeeding then it may happen that the allergic substances present in peanuts pass into the mother’s milk. Peanuts may cause allergies to your baby. So, you should not consume peanuts while you are breastfeeding.

7. DIARY: While breastfeeding, you should avoid eating or drinking dairy products, especially cow’s milk because it may cause irritation to your baby and can also cause vomiting. Many problems like eczema, skin issues, and sleep issues can also be caused due to this. While you are breastfeeding you should only consume organic varieties of products rather than consuming dairy products.

8. GARLIC: The behavior of your baby can be caused due to garlic. Some babies do not eat garlic at all due to its smell so you should avoid eating garlic. In this way, your milk will be safe from getting the smell of garlic.

9. SPICY FOODS: Stay away from spicy foods while breastfeeding. It may hurt your baby by irritating them. Spicy foods are not at all tolerated by small babies. Your baby feels very uncomfortable while you are breastfeeding if you have consumed too much spicy food.

10. CORN: Corn is not at all good for your baby as it may cause irritation and rashes to your babies. You should not eat corn while breastfeeding.

11. WHEAT: There is a very common problem which is caused by women which are called gluten intolerance and it may cause many problems to you while you are breastfeeding, so you should be aware of that.

12. EGGS: There may be a situation that in the history of your family, one of the persons got allergic due to eggs so it is very important that you should not consume eggs while you are breastfeeding at all.
